Help the Lexus Velodrome Rebuild

Since 2018, the Lexus Velodrome and Detroit Fitness Foundation have hosted some of the best pro and amateur track cyclists in the world. But more than that, they inspire youth to get involved in cycling with free cycling programs year-round at the Lexus Velodrome. They offer summer youth camps where they bring kids in (even providing transportation if necessary) to teach them how to ride a bike, from 3-year-olds on balance bikes to teenagers learning how to race on the track.

In December of 2021 during a power outage, a backup generator failed and the Velodrome's air bubble building collapsed on the track. Luckily, the building was vacant at the time and no one was injured, but the bubble was seriously damaged and the building is currently unstable. This is a huge loss to the Detroit cycling community and the youth who attend their programs.

The League of Michigan Bicyclists is supporting the Lexus Velodrome during this difficult time with a gift of $2,500 and we're challenging the Michigan bicycling community to match it. You can help the Velodrome return to growing the next generation of Michigan bicyclists. The funds raised through this site will go to the Detroit Fitness Foundation to repair the Velodrome's infrastructure.
