My Ride for Peace Fundraising Page - Ukraine Relief

Larry Hogue

Larry's Ride for Peace

Thank you for supporting me as I ride 300 miles by the end of April to support World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit dedicated to helping and feeding refugees. WCK has 4 stars out of 4 on Charity Navigator. Your donation will specifically help the people who have been displaced by the Russian war against Ukraine.

If you're new to this sort of fundraising activity, here's the deal: If I raise $250 or more, I get the beautiful Ride for Peace cycling jersey. Other than the production cost of the jersey (a steeply discounted $25), shipping expenses ($5), and credit card transaction fees, all proceeds will be donated to World Central Kitchen specifically for Ukrainian refugee relief. My initial donation covers those expected costs, so your donation goes 100% to WCK.

You can just make a flat donation of any amount, or if you want to sponsor me by the mile, that would be $15 at 5 cents/mile, $30 at 10 cents/mile, or $60 at 20 cents/mile.

I realize the Ukrainian refugee crisis is sucking up a lot of the fundraising oxygen right now, so Diane and I will match your donations, up to a maximum total of $1,000, with our own donations to one or more well-respected charities focusing on refugees from the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. We'll decide on the specific charities in the next couple of days.

We've selected the two charities for our fundraising match: International Rescue Committee and Doctors Without Borders. So far, I've raised $455 for World Central Kitchen. With the match, that will be $225 for IRC and $225 for Doctors Without Borders. Who wants to break the $500 mark?

200 miles in the books!
